Introducing Diode Dynamics Dual-Color LED Fog Lights

Choosing between white and yellow fog lights usually means deciding which color best fits your driving conditions and the look of your vehicle. With new Dual-Color LED Fog Lights from Diode Dynamics, you no longer have to choose just one.

Available for both Stage Series SS3 and Elite Series fog light applications, the Dual-Color option combines 6000K cool white and 3000K selective yellow output in one lamp. Using SmartSelect technology, you can choose the color that best fits the conditions through your existing fog light controls, with no additional switch required.

What Are Dual-Color LED Fog Lights?

Dual-Color LED Fog Lights provide both white and yellow main-beam output from the same lamp. Instead of purchasing a dedicated white or dedicated yellow fog light kit, you can select either color based on the conditions, your preferences, or the appearance you want for your vehicle.

The Dual-Color option is available across select Stage Series SS3 and Elite Series fog light applications. Dedicated single-color white and yellow options remain available as well.

White vs. Yellow Fog Lights

6000K cool white provides a crisp, modern appearance that matches most factory LED headlights and exterior lighting. White output is a strong all-around choice for clear-weather visibility and drivers who prefer an OEM-style LED color.

3000K selective yellow provides greater visual contrast in rain, snow, dust, and fog. The warmer output can help define changes in the road surface and reduce the harsh reflected glare often experienced in poor weather.

With the Dual-Color option, both outputs are built into the same lamp. You can use white for everyday driving and switch to yellow when conditions change, without replacing the lamps, installing covers, or adding another lighting system.

How SmartSelect Technology Works

Diode Dynamics Dual-Color fog lights use SmartSelect technology to control the selected output through the factory fog light circuit. No separate color-selection switch is required.

To enter the programming sequence, cycle the fog lights on and off three times. The lamps will then display the available white and yellow settings. When your preferred color appears, leave the fog lights on for at least five seconds to save the selection.

Once saved, the lamps will return to that color the next time they are powered on. Normal headlight operation, including high-beam use, will not cause an unexpected color change.

For the complete sequence, reset instructions, timing requirements, and troubleshooting information, see our SmartSelect Dual-Color Fog Light Programming Guide.

One Fog Pattern in Either Color

Changing the output color should not change the quality of the beam pattern. Both the white and yellow outputs in Diode Dynamics Dual-Color fog lights use the same focused SAE fog pattern.

The spread, beam height, cutoff, and aiming remain consistent when switching between colors. This avoids the uneven cutoffs and slight output misalignment sometimes found in dual-color lamps that use separate optical paths for each color.

You are changing the color of the light, not the shape or focus of the beam.

SS3 vs. Elite Series Fog Lights

Dual-Color technology is available in both our Stage Series SS3 and Elite Series fog light families. Both provide focused, SAE-compliant fog output, but each offers a different appearance and lighting design.

Stage Series SS3 Fog Lights

The Stage Series SS3 is designed for drivers who want an aggressive, off-road-inspired appearance. Its three-inch pod-style design uses custom-engineered TIR optics to collect and direct the LED output into a highly focused beam pattern.

Dual-Color SS3 output falls between the traditional Sport and Pro power levels. The SS3 also includes a distinctive amber backlight that fully illuminates the optic, adding a modern accent when the main beam is not in use.

The SS3 is the ideal choice for a built appearance, high output intensity, and recognizable pod-style lighting.

Elite Series Fog Lights

Elite Series fog lights are designed for drivers who prefer a clean, factory-inspired appearance. Their vehicle-specific shape integrates naturally into the bumper while delivering substantially more useful output than the original fog lamps.

A single-piece optic produces an extremely wide fog pattern with high intensity and a sharp cutoff to keep the output controlled for on-road use. Elite Series lamps also include an integrated amber backlight for an additional factory-style accent.

The Elite Series is the ideal choice for an OEM-style finish with a significant performance upgrade hidden inside.

Both options are designed, engineered, and assembled in the United States and are SAE-compliant for legal on-road use when installed and aimed in accordance with applicable regulations.

Plug-and-Play Installation

Adding Dual-Color functionality does not require extra color-selection wiring. Installation follows the same process as the corresponding single-color SS3 or Elite Series fog light kit.

For most vehicle-specific applications, the factory fog light assembly is removed and replaced with the new Diode Dynamics lamp and mounting components. The included adapter connects the new fog lights to the factory fog light socket, allowing SmartSelect to operate through the existing circuit.

No additional switch is needed to select white or yellow output. Exact installation procedures vary by vehicle, so refer to the installation guide provided for your specific kit.

Which Fog Light Option Is Right for You?

Dedicated single-color lamps remain a great choice for drivers who already know exactly which output they prefer. Choose white for a clean factory LED appearance, or yellow for added contrast and a distinctive look.

The Dual-Color option is best for drivers who want the flexibility to adapt their lighting to changing weather and road conditions. It is also ideal for anyone who has been torn between white and yellow and wants both options without adding another set of lights.

From there, choosing between SS3 and Elite Series comes down primarily to appearance. Select SS3 for an aggressive pod-style look, or Elite Series for a clean, factory-inspired finish.
