Installation Instructions
Step 1 — Remove the factory grille
Press the two retaining tabs at the top of the factory grille, then pull the grille forward and remove it from the vehicle.
Step 2 — Remove the lower bumper fasteners
Use a T25 Torx bit to remove the two screws securing the lower bumper cover. Set the screws aside for reinstallation.
Step 3 — Remove the lower bumper cover
Lift the lower bumper cover upward to release it from the vehicle, then set it aside.
Step 4 — Select the harness power source
Inspect the firewall area under the hood for a factory bus bar. If your vehicle has a factory bus bar, continue with Steps 5 and 6. If it does not have a factory bus bar, skip to Step 7 and connect the harness directly to the battery.
Step 5 — Route the switch lead for a bus-bar connection
Vehicles with a factory bus bar: Remove the hood, then feed the switch lead from the wiring harness through the nearby firewall opening. Pull the switch lead into the cabin until the harness power leads reach the bus bar.
Step 6 — Connect the harness to the factory bus bar
Vehicles with a factory bus bar: Remove the nearby T25 screw and use it to secure the harness relay. Use a 10mm socket to remove the positive and negative bus-bar nuts. Place the red harness lead on the positive terminal and the black harness lead on the negative terminal, then reinstall and tighten both nuts. Continue to Step 8.
Step 7 — Connect the harness directly to the battery
Vehicles without a factory bus bar: Lift and remove the driver seat to access the battery. Use a 10mm wrench to loosen the battery terminals, then connect the red harness lead to the positive terminal and the black harness lead to the negative terminal. Tighten both connections securely. Remove the hood, then route the switch lead and DT lead forward along the driver-side door sill and up behind the dash as shown.
Step 8 — Route the DT lead to the grille opening
Route the harness DT lead under the front plastic, behind the radiator, and toward the front bumper. Pull the connector through the factory grille opening. Keep all wiring away from hot surfaces, sharp edges, and moving parts.
Step 9 — Install the selected switch
Route the included toggle-switch lead to a suitable mounting location and connect the switch. Do not permanently mount the switch until you test the lighting system.
If desired, replace the included toggle switch with the Diode Dynamics Rectangular Rocker Switch. Disconnect the toggle switch from the white inline connector on the switch lead, then connect the rectangular rocker switch directly to that connector. Remove the appropriate factory switch blank and press the rocker switch into place. Connect the black wire with the ring terminal to a suitable chassis ground so the switch backlight can operate.
Step 10 — Assemble the selected light configuration
SS3 configuration: Slide an SS3 universal bracket underneath each mounting tab on the replacement grille. Insert the supplied carriage bolt through the grille tab and universal bracket, then install the washer, lock washer, and nut. Center each pod in its grille opening and tighten the hardware with a 13mm wrench.
SS10 configuration: Insert the SS10 LED light bar into the grille opening from the front. Align the mounting points and install the two supplied 10mm mounting bolts. Leave the bolts slightly loose for final aiming.
Step 11 — Connect the selected light configuration
SS3 configuration: Connect the two-way DT splitter to the main harness, then connect one splitter output to each SS3 LED pod. Confirm that all three connections are fully seated.
SS10 configuration: Connect the main harness DT connector directly to the SS10 LED light bar.
Step 12 — Position the replacement grille
Place the assembled replacement grille into the factory opening and align the two lower mounting holes with the vehicle mounting points.
Step 13 — Install the lower grille hardware
Loosely install the two supplied 10mm bolts and nuts through the lower grille mounting holes. Confirm that the grille is centered before tightening the hardware.
Step 14 — Secure the replacement grille
Tighten the two lower 10mm bolts. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to install the six included self-tapping screws around the grille, alternating from side to side to keep the grille aligned. Do not overtighten the screws.
Step 15 — Reinstall the lower bumper cover
Reposition the lower bumper cover and reinstall the two factory T25 screws removed earlier.
Step 16 — Test, aim, and reassemble
Test the switch and lights for proper operation. Aim the SS3 LED pods or SS10 LED light bar to the desired position, then tighten the light mounting hardware. Secure all loose or excess wiring with zip ties, keeping it away from hot or moving components. Reinstall the hood, driver seat if removed, and any remaining vehicle components.
