The Diode Dynamics SS3 SAE/DOT Type A Fog Light Kit is a direct-fit upgrade designed to use existing mounting points on compatible vehicles. This guide will walk you through assembling the brackets, installing the pods, wiring the system, and aiming your new fog lights.

Installation Tools
- Basic hand tools
- Ratchet and socket set (for factory fog light hardware)
- Wire strippers/crimpers (if tapping a circuit for backlight power)
Time Required: Approximately 1–2 hours.
Installation Instructions
Step 1 – Assemble the bracket to the pod
Install the supplied nuts into the pod housing with the nylon facing inward. Attach the bracket to the pod using the supplied screws and washers, making sure the bracket is in the correct orientation.
Tighten the screws so the pod retains its position, but can still pivot with force for aiming.
Step 2 – Access the factory fog lights
Access your factory fog lights. In most cases, it is easiest to pull back the wheel well liner and reach the fog light area from behind.
Step 3 – Remove the factory fog light housing
Disconnect the fog light connector from the vehicle wiring harness. Remove the factory fog light housing. Factory hardware will be reused.
Step 4 – Install the SS3 pod and bracket assembly
Install your new SS3 pod using the factory hardware. The tabs and holes on the bracket should align with the mounting points of the factory fog light housing.
Re-use the factory hardware and tighten securely.
Step 5 – Connect wiring and backlight power
Use the included wire adapters to connect the pod to the vehicle wiring harness. Test function. If the light does not turn on, try flipping the connector 180°.
Connect the backlight power wire to your choice of a fused 12V source. The most common method is tapping into a parking light or sidemarker circuit. T-taps are included for this purpose.
Note: Power source must be fused.
Step 6 – Repeat for the opposite side
Repeat Steps 1–5 on the other side of the vehicle.
Step 7 – Set up a aiming reference
Park the vehicle on level ground 25 feet from a wall. Measure the height from the ground to the center of the fog light and mark that height on the wall.
Add another piece of tape four inches below the mounting height. This is your fog light cutoff line.
Step 8 – Aim the SS3 fog lights
Aim your SS3 pods so the top of the beam pattern aligns with the cutoff line mark.
Step 9 – Tighten hardware
Tighten the adjustment hardware to complete the installation. Do not overtighten or use power tools.
