Thank you for your purchase of this unique product for your new GMC Sierra! With the RGBW™ DRL LED Boards for the 2014-2015 GMC Sierra, you will be able to convert your factory white LED DRL “bars” inside the headlight into full multicolor functionality. They are a direct replacement for the factory LED panels inside the light.
Please note: Headlights must be opened before proceeding with the installation. This process can be completed by heating and prying the lens from the housing. We recommend viewing example videos online to understand the process. However, professional installation is strongly recommended. Mounting Instructions
Step 1 - Remove Reflector Housings.
Remove the headlamp lens. Then, using a T20 Torx Screw Driver, remove the screws holding both reflector housings in place to access the factory LED panels.
Pull the reflector housings away from the headlamp and unclip each connector.
Step 2 - Remove Factory LED Boards.
Take both reflector housings to a clean area. Using a rotary (Dremel) tool, remove the factory LED boards by shaving down the black plastic rivets holding the LED panels to the housing. Pull the factory board away from the housing. Repeat for all three factory boards.
Step 3 - Place New LED Board.
Remove any shavings from the reflector housings. Using the original plastic rivet points, place the new Diode Dynamics LED boards into position.
Step 4 - Apply Epoxy.
Fix the new panels in place by applying 5-minute epoxy to completely cover the plastic rivets tabs. The epoxy should create a bond between the plastic rivet point and the board. Use enough epoxy so that there is a bond all the way around each rivet, contacting the board fully.
Step 5 - Remove Turn Signal.
Next, remove the turn signal housing from the headlamp.
Step 6 - Reinstall Housings.
After ensuring the epoxy is completely dry, reinstall the reflector housing units. Then reinstall the turn signal housing and replace all the original screws.
Step 7 - Route Cable.
Run the RGBW ribbon cable out of the headlamp, sealing any hole that you may create. Replace the headlamp lens and repeat for the other side.
Wiring Instructions
Step 8 - Connect Driver.
Connect the LED board to the driver. Then using the JST-to-M8 adapter wire included with the Diode Dynamics RGBW controller (sold separately), connect the driver to the controller. See the diagram below.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT plug the LED panel directly into the controller without the driver. The LEDs must be plugged into the driver first to control the power.
Step 9 - Connect to Power.
Connect your RGBW controller to 12V power and ground. This will dictate when the panels turn on. The most popular wiring choice is listed in the table below. Tap wires coming directly out of the headlight, not the main headlamp connector.
Step 10 - Mount Drivers.
Mount drivers and controller, and tuck all wires. Drivers should be mounted outside of the headlight for serviceability, in a location away from the engine block to avoid excessive heat buildup.
Step 11 - Complete Installation.
Test thoroughly, reseal the headlight, and reinstall onto the vehicle.
