Diode Dynamics Dually work lights set a new standard for value: high quality, at affordable prices. These may look like others on the market, but make no mistake! These are high-quality, US-designed work lights, not knockoffs. With Diode Dynamics, you get the cost savings of standardized designs, but a high level of quality, matching name brands on the market.
LED Components. Diode Dynamics uses only genuine, USA-made CREE LEDs in its work lights. Knockoff lights might say "CREE," but there are many counterfeit LEDs coming from Asia. Diode Dynamics purchases LEDs directly from CREE's USA authorized distributors, ensuring that they are indeed genuine CREE LEDs, with the highest quality and brightness available.
Since Diode Dynamics controls the assembly and production of its lights, there are no mismatched colors of LEDs, like you commonly find in knockoffs. All LEDs will be the exact same color and brightness, for uniform output.
The LEDs are powered by constant-current circuits that have been designed by Diode Dynamics, with custom-made aluminum-backed PCBs for effective heat transfer. The circuit makes use of USA-sourced components, driving the LEDs with maximum power, while featuring thermal protection and voltage suppression for excellent reliability under any operating scenario.
Housings. Diode Dynamics uses high-quality cast aluminum housings for its work lights, which have been powdercoated to specification with a matte finish, to be highly durable, easy to clean, and great at hiding fingerprints. Knockoff light bars are simply painted, resulting in many blemishes and runs in the paint, and a "shiny" appearance.
These bars only use high-quality steel hex cap screws to affix each piece in place, with various accent colors to allow for a unique appearance.
The process for assembling work lights is not complicated! It just takes time and skill to provide a high-quality end product.
First, Diode Dynamics production technicians arrange various pieces of hardware, and carefully inspect them for any blemishes or defects.
Then the pieces are meticulously added. First, the LED panel is installed into the housing, with thermal adhesive and hardware. The power wires are soldered in securely, and tucked away.
Next, optics are arranged carefully, as specified by the build, and the reflectors are added as necessary, and secured in place. The fitment and spacing is critical to ensuring a uniform light output. Knockoff bars usually show a lack of attention to detail in this area.
Next, the gasket must be carefully installed to provide a watertight seal, and the unbreakable polycarbonate lens is fastened in place with the retaining frame. Each screw is carefully torqued to specification to securely hold the piece in place, while not causing stress, which can lead to seal failure over time.
Before it's complete, a high-quality Deutsch connector is added, to ensure that the bar will be powered reliably, with a waterproof seal. Knockoff LED bars will rarely use any connectors- you're just left with bare wires instead.
Lumens: Most sellers only provide the "raw" lumen numbers, based on the maximum potential brightness of the LED chips on the bulb. For example, if a work light has 4 200-lumen LEDs, they might say it has 800 raw lumens. In order to provide some level of comparison, Diode Dynamics also provides a "raw lumens" calculation, because this rating is so widespread in the industry. However, this is not an accurate measure of brightness, as the LEDs in the light bar will never run at the maximum, or "raw" power level.
As often as possible, Diode Dynamics tests the actual brightness of lights in our lab, to provide real lumen output measurements. Our measurements are accurate, but they are usually much lower than the "raw" figures. Please click here to learn more about LED brightness measurement.
Diode Dynamics offroad lights utilize lenses, not simple reflectors like those found on cheap knockoff lights. This provides a much more efficient light- nearly all of the light is directed as intended, not lost as glare.
Flood: This optic style provides a wide beam of light. This is ideal for general illumination.
Spot: With a focus lens, the spot optic directs light in a narrow pattern, for illuminance of objects in the distance. This type of optic is ideal for driving lights (off road only).
Diode Dynamics work lights are a white 6500K color, like other name brands on the market. Knockoff light bars are generally more blue, which is straining on the eye. All LEDs are highly uniform, so there will be no variance in color along the length of the bar.
The color can be modified by colored lens cover attachments (available separately).
