3157 HP11 is a direct replacement for any 3157-size incandescent bulb. This is one of the brightest bulbs we carry, as a clear improvement over halogen lighting.

The installation is 100% plug-and-play, just replace your factory bulb. The bulb may blink faster since it uses less power, and your vehicle thinks the bulb is out- to fix this, please see "hyperblinking" section below.

This bulb has four 1.5W chips around the sides, to fill in the light's housing and give a great appearance and full look, and one 5W LED chip with a projector lens on top to project outward. It uses an 3157-size durable inject-molded terminal and will fit as a replacement for stock halogen. It uses less power and heat than halogen bulbs, and will last longer, with its engineered aluminum heat-sinking technology. A component is embedded to prevent blowing the LED from voltage surge, and a diode is implanted to protect the LED from reverse polarity. The LED is wired for 12V operation, the kind found on all vehicles.

Included in your order is TWO BULBS.

These LEDs are available in a crisp, bright, amber or red color.

310 Lumens

Lumens: BUYER BEWARE! Most sellers just provide "calculated" lumen numbers, based on the maximum potential brightness of the LED chips on the bulb. For example, if a bulb has five 10-lumen chips, they will rate it at 50 lumens. However, this is not accurate, as the design of an LED bulb does not get rid of heat fast enough to run the LEDs at maximum.

These "calculated" lumen ratings are much, much higher than the true, measured light output, so it will look like competitors' bulbs are brighter than ours. This is because Diode Dynamics does not provide inflated "calculated" numbers; we believe it is misleading. We test the actual brightness of the bulbs in our lab, to provide real lumen output measurements. Our measurements are accurate, but they are usually much lower than the misleading "calculated" figures. Please click here to learn more about LED brightness measurement.

LED Components. Diode Dynamics uses only the highest quality LED chips in the production of its bulbs. This means we use only brand-name suppliers such as Epistar, Cree, Osram, and Samsung.

While our bulbs may look the same as others on the market, most copycat bulbs use economy-grade LED chips in order to reduce costs. This greatly reduces the reliability and overall brightness of the bulb when you compare it to Diode Dynamics.

Construction. Although LED technology allows for extremely long bulb life, the market is flooded with cheap LED bulbs that fail prematurely due to inferior construction. The worst enemy of LEDs is excessive heat, and when bulbs are not designed properly, they do not disperse heat as well, leading to premature failure.

Off-brand, cheap bulbs exhibit poor solder uniformity, high levels of flux in the solder, uneven chip placement, low-gauge terminal wires, poor assembly, and bulbs held together with inferior adhesives. At best, solder joints will crack and fail on low-quality LEDs after a few weeks of use. In the worst case, these bulbs can damage housings as the extra flux and adhesive evaporates and creates a residue on the lens of the housing.

Diode Dynamics bulbs are produced with modern, computerized equipment, and only the best materials, to ensure complete uniformity, high quality, and long bulb life.

The turn signals on most vehicles will begin to blink fast (hyperblink) when LED bulbs are installed. This is because the new LEDs will use less power than the original bulbs, so your vehicle thinks that the bulb is out and warns you by hyperblinking.

This phenomenon will be the same for every LED bulb on the market- there is no such thing as a "no hyperblink" LED bulb, even though some companies advertise them as such.

Flasher Replacement: Replacing the flasher relay, the module that controls blinking speed, is the easiest option to correct hyperblinking. You can remove the flasher on your vehicle, which is a small relay module under the dash, and replace it with a new flasher designed for LEDs. You will only need one flasher for your vehicle, whether you are replacing just one pair or both sets of turn signal bulbs (front/rear).

Resistor Kit: If you prefer not to change the flasher, you can add resistors to the bulb's circuit, and mimic the power consumption of the original bulb, returning the vehicle to normal turn signal speed. Resistors are a universal fix for any vehicle. Our resistors are 50w, 6 ohm, and come with extra-long connection wires for easy install. If you have both front and rear LED turn signals, you should purchase one set for each pair, to create enough resistance for the whole turn signal circuit. The installation itself takes only 10-15 minutes, and involves making two simple connections. Everything you need is included in the kit.

  1. Not as Bright as Stock Review by Ruggybuggy

Bought these and was assured that they would be brighter than the stock bulbs. They are not. Not sure why other reviewers are saying they are brighter. I installed these in a 2012 Tacoma which uses the bulbs as DRL's so bright is important. (Posted on 8/28/16)

  2. 2013 Ford Focus ST Brake and Turn Review by Sid

I purchased 2 pairs (red and amber) of the HP11 bulbs to replace my stock halogen brake lights and rear turn signals. I wanted LEDs that were slightly brighter than stock but not too bright so that they're blinding to people behind me at night. The HP11 met that requirement perfectly. They utilize the reflector housing very well and both the amber and red have a nice deep color. The quality of the bulbs seems very good though I do wish that they were a bit more inexpensive. Note that for my 2013 Ford Focus ST I did have to use a resistor kit on both the rear brake (to stop bulb error) and the turn signals (to stop hyper flash). (Posted on 2/4/16)

  3. Great product Review by Jeff

I bought these for the front park/turn signals on my GMC Denali. VERY high quality product that produces wonderfully high light output. You definitely get what you pay for and no other LED's compare as far as I'm concerned. If anyone is looking for high light output and quality, diode dynamics is the company to check out! 4. You Get What You Pay For! Review by Brad

I took a long hard look at the less expensive bulbs out there, but decided quality was worth paying for. I put these in an older car for enhanced safety and reliability, not to mention long service life. I couldn't be happier with them. Since they are oversized, they were a bit challenging to find a socket that would allow me to use them, but I was able to find some. The bulbs are very solidly built, and work really well! Brighter than incandescent for sure. (Posted on 3/23/15)

  5. Great light Review by Tommy

speaking of safety, these are the best lights you can get ! and their great looking... (Posted on 11/14/14)

  6. Very impressed Review by Darren

I replaced my stock rear turn signal bulbs with these red level 2 LED bulbs on my Nissan Altima Coupe. Wow! They are bright! Even through the red lens of the tail light. They are at least 3 times brighter than stock. Great product. Fast shipping. Upgraded the car. Enhanced safety on the road. Good job guys. (Posted on 8/15/14)

  7. works where others do not Review by ted

I had tried units from other vendors but none had a proper dim / bright ratio, which made it hard to distinguish (to other drives behind me) when I hit the brakes.
Spoke with Nick and he suggested these and said the dim / bright ration was good. He seemed believable so I went on his advise.
    These units BLEW ME AWAY!
They fit, they work and seem as bright, if not brighter than incandescent. Thanks, guys! Great product! Fast shipping! (Posted on 10/10/13)
