Upgrade Your Truck With Our F150 LED Foglights

The Ford F150 is an amazing American made truck packed with tons of features and capability. One spot where these trucks fall short is their foglight bulbs. The stock halogen bulbs on your F150 provide little light output and are destined to fail after a year or so of regular use. This is due to the inherent design flaws of all halogen bulbs which give them both subpar light output and a limited lifespan. If you want a set of bulbs that will provide increased light output and a long lifespan, you need to try our F150 LED foglights

When it comes to F150 LED foglights, our team at Diode Dynamics has spent years designing the best bulbs in the industry. From 2006 to 2012, we were a small business specializing in custom LED kits as the accessibility of LEDs was increasing. By 2012, we offered a full product catalog and started down the road to manufacturing. Now we are one of the only companies manufacturing LED foglight bulbs in the US! We control every step of our bulb assembly and are proud to offer high-quality, high performing automotive LED bulbs you can’t find anywhere else.

Our team of engineers has looked at every facet of what makes a quality LED foglight bulb. Instead of just imitating the popular designs on the market, we wanted to design a bulb that was superior on all levels. After creating a solution to the common pitfalls of LED bulb design, our F150 LED foglights are truly the best option on the market.

Halogen bulbs rely on a glowing tungsten filament to produce light. The halogen in a halogen bulb is found in a pocket of gas securely surrounding the filament. As tungsten heats in the presence of this gas, any evaporated tungsten bonds with the gas and is later redeposited back onto the filament. This “halogen cycle” greatly extends the lifespan of the bulbs, allowing them to last much longer than a conventional incandescent lightbulb. Despite this noteworthy improvement over conventional bulbs, they still rely on a glowing piece of metal to produce light. This process wastes a lot of energy in the production of heat as a by-product. While these bulbs have been the industry standard for decades, the technology has evolved greatly.

LED lighting technology has evolved at an incredible rate over the last decade. These extremely efficient bulbs use specialized semiconductors that produce light through a mechanism that is unlike any other lighting technology since the creation of the very first light bulb. Basically, electrons want to flow from one side of the LED diode to the other. In order to do this, they have to sacrifice some energy in the form of light. Unlike conventional lighting, this process does not create a large amount of heat, meaning it is far more efficient than conventional lighting.

Before LEDs became cost-effective to manufacture, almost all bulbs have relied on glowing filaments to produce light. While early iterations of this technology only produced a dim light, improvements in material sciences have led to incredibly bright LEDs that use a tiny fraction of the power of conventional lights. The leap from traditional filament lights to LEDs is as significant in terms of efficiency as the shift from fire to the first electric lights. If you want the latest lighting technology in your truck, SLF LED Bulbs are the best option for you.

Our SLF LED bulbs feature the latest in LED chip technology. The fact that we manufacture our foglight bulbs here in the US means that we have complete control when it comes to choosing the components for our bulbs. We are able to source powerful LEDs and test every light to ensure our customers only get the best when they install our bulbs in their trucks.

Your foglights have specially designed reflectors that focus the light from your bulbs directly in front of the vehicle where you need it. Many brands will advertise an extremely high lumen output on their bulbs, but light intensity is not everything. The reflectors in your foglights are designed to focus light from a filament at a precise location. This means that the position of your bulbs is even more important than the amount of light output from your bulbs.

To simplify this idea let’s imagine the classic childhood activity of focusing sunlight using a magnifying glass. If you want to burn a leaf with your magnifying glass, you have to dial in the correct distance, or focal length, from the leaf or you won’t get that pinpoint focus. Let’s say that the sweet spot is exactly 6 inches from the leaf, giving you a perfect pinpoint that will have your leaf smoking in no time. If you want to repeat this activity on a slightly cloudier day, you will still need to hold your magnifying glass at 6 inches to get the results you want, though it might take longer. Even on the brightest day, holding the magnifying glass at any distance greater or less than 6 inches just won’t focus the light the way you want it. The ideal focal point of the magnifying glass does not change based on the intensity of the light it is using, just like the ideal position of your light source is not affected by the intensity of the light emitted by your bulbs.

In order to ensure that our bulbs function as intended, our engineers have dialed in their spacing to precise specifications based on the focal point of the OEM bulb. There are two main factors to consider when it comes to making our F150 LED foglight bulbs a perfect fit for the foglight’s housing. The first is obviously ensuring that the position of our SLF's LED chips aligns with the position of the OEM halogen filament. This ensures that the light emitted from our chips is hitting the reflectors at the perfect angles to focus their light directly in front of the vehicle where you need it.

However, unlike a halogen filament, our bulbs use two circuit boards back to back instead of one continuous filament. This means that in order to get the best possible performance, our circuit boards have to be as close to each other as possible. We designed our bulbs to have the thinnest possible spacing between these two circuit boards so the light they emit mimics the output of a traditional filament. Other brands use thicker circuit boards between their LEDs, which can cause the light they emit to appear diffused and unfocused.

At 780 tested lumens per bulb, the output from our SLF LED foglights is much brighter than the OEM halogen bulbs. This bright, focused light will help you see further without sacrificing the focused beam pattern from your stock bulbs. The 6000K color temperature from our bulbs also means that you will get a clean cool white light from your foglights, without the blueish output you see from other bulbs. If you are interested in a true yellow fog light, we also offer our foglight bulbs in a 3000k selective yellow.

Our SLF LED foglight bulbs are designed according to the Department of Transportation’s regulations. Our SLF bulbs have SAE and DOT-compliant output in certain applications as tested so you know you’ll be able to see the road ahead clearly without blinding other drivers.

Installing our bulbs in your F150 truck is an incredibly simple plug and play process that should only take you 20 to 30 minutes. You can access the back of your foglights through the wheel well. Once you gain access to the foglights, simply remove the stock bulb and install your new LED bulb in its place, and then test your lights. Our bulbs are polar sensitive, so you might need to flip the connector if your foglights don't illuminate.

Most LED bulbs on the market are powered by a simple regulator, but these can also cause a wide range of issues. Different OEM electrical systems will interact with LEDs in different ways. The low power requirements of LEDs can cause vehicles to not realize the bulbs are installed and give false warnings thinking that your bulbs need to be replaced. We have looked at several vehicles and designed our bulbs’ drivers to mimic the electrical signature of halogen bulbs so your truck won’t have any trouble interacting with our bulbs.

Our drivers also include protective circuitry to ensure a long lifespan from every bulb. The boost mode circuit helps to prevent thermal imbalance in the LEDs, which helps them function for longer. We also included transient protection in our circuitry to prevent spikes in voltage or current that could damage your vehicle’s circuitry.

In addition to testing our bulbs in various electrical systems, we have also put our bulbs through extensive environmental testing to ensure they can hold up under harsh conditions. Our SLF LED bulbs can handle temperatures as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit all the way up to 300 degrees. So whether you are driving in the harshest desert or the coldest tundra, you won’t have to worry about having your SLF bulbs fail on you.

Your standard halogen bulb will last for about 1000 hours of use before the filament thins out and ultimately fails. This means that if you are using your bulbs for 10 hours per week, they are going to burn out and need to be replaced after just two years. Our F150 foglight bulbs are designed to last 40,000 hours. That is a total lifespan of 4.5 years of continuous use. This means that if you used your bulbs for the same 10 hours per week, they would last you for over 75 years. When you buy a set of our F150 LED foglights, they are going to be the last pair of lights your truck will need.

Even with their long lifespan, we want our customers to rest assured that their investment in our F150 LED foglights will pay off. That’s why every set of bulbs comes with our worry-free three-year warranty. If your bulbs have any defect that causes premature failure within the warranty period, we will send you a new pair to replace them.

So if your truck’s stock bulbs have burnt out, or you are just considering an upgrade, it’s time to upgrade to our SLF bulbs.
