From the factory, turn signal bulbs are powered by standard incandescent lights that light up amber in color.

Newer luxury vehicles are using LEDs for turn signals, because LEDs offer a crisp, instant on/off, increased brightness, and true, vibrant color. By replacing the bulbs in your vehicle, you can achieve this modern look!

You can even add functionality to your vehicle with switchback bulbs! These light up bright white for running lights instead of dim amber, but still blink amber when you activate the turn signals, for a unique dual-color effect!

The installation is 100% plug-and-play, just replace your factory bulb. The bulb may blink faster since it uses less power, and your vehicle thinks the bulb is out- to fix this, please see "hyperblinking" section below.

HP48: This bulb is non-polar, CK compatible, with 48 Epistar 3014 LED chips. Thanks to the cap on the top, the light from this High Power Bulb is shined backwards and away from the bulb, not straight out. This means the output is excellent, because it uses the vehicle's housing completely, which then shines the light much more uniformly.

HP11: Four side-firing 1.5W-rated Osram LED chips, and one 5W-rated LED chip on top, which is projected by a lens for maximum effective brightness. The bulb is housed in a machined aluminum casing, which provides superior heat diffusion for long life.

XP80: Each of the four sides of this bulb contains three 5W-rated chips, and the top is fitted with four more under a projector lens. This is the brightest self-contained automotive LED bulb on the market, and is housed in an aluminum casing with a textured finish for maximum heatsinking properties.

HP24: 16 amber and 8 white, high-power LED chips. Full aluminum body for durability and advanced digital latching circuit for color control. 6000k, Cool White to match your HIDs or other LED applications.

Fitment. All three bulbs use a quality aluminum 1157 terminal, with a full-size dual-contact base connector and proper pin alignment, designed for exact replacement of your factory 1157 bulb.

Included in your order is TWO BULBS.

Amber: These LEDs illuminate in a crisp, bright, amber color.

Switchback Option: Your vehicle may be able to use a specialty bulb known as "switchback." This bulb is only suitable when there is a clear reflector. Normally, your front turn signal lights up half power amber when you turn on your headlights, and flashes full power amber when the turn signal is activated.

By using this dual-filament design, along with an integrated controller chip in the bulb, you can get a very cool effect: the switchback bulb lights up white when your headlights are turned on, and flashes amber when you use the turn signals. When you switch the turn signal off, it "switches back" to white. This allows you to gain a uniform white appearance in the front of the vehicle at night, while still having amber turn signals.

Diode Dynamics only lists amber and switchback bulbs for the front turn signal. This is because other colors, such as white and red, are not legal for front turn signal use. Please view other pages for other colors and applications.

Diode Dynamics offers several brightness options so you can choose what fits you best.  These options are listed by the design and the lumen output of each bulb:

The amber bulbs in this listing are dual-brightness, and will illuminate at 60% power for parking/running lamp, and 100% for full turn signal.

HP48: Slightly lower brightness than OEM bulbs, but still provides the crisp, modern instant on/off of LED technology.
HP11: Slightly higher brightness than OEM bulbs.
XP80: Much brighter than OEM bulbs. These are bright!

Lumens: BUYER BEWARE! Most sellers just provide "calculated" lumen numbers, based on the maximum potential brightness of the LED chips on the bulb. For example, if a bulb has five 10-lumen chips, they will rate it at 50 lumens. However, this is not accurate, as the design of an LED bulb does not get rid of heat fast enough to run the LEDs at maximum.

These "calculated" lumen ratings are much, much higher than the true, measured light output, so it will look like competitors' bulbs are brighter than ours. This is because Diode Dynamics does not provide inflated "calculated" numbers; we believe it is misleading. We test the actual brightness of the bulbs in our lab, to provide real lumen output measurements. Our measurements are accurate, but they are usually much lower than the misleading "calculated" figures. Please click here to learn more about LED brightness measurement.

LED Components. Diode Dynamics uses only the highest quality LED chips in the production of its bulbs. This means we use only brand-name suppliers such as Epistar, Cree, Osram, and Samsung.

While Diode Dynamics bulbs may look the same as others on the market, most copycat bulbs use economy-grade LED chips in order to reduce costs. This greatly reduces the reliability and overall brightness of the bulb when you compare it to Diode Dynamics.

Construction. Although LED technology allows for extremely long bulb life, the market is flooded with cheap LED bulbs that fail prematurely due to inferior construction. The worst enemy of LEDs is excessive heat, and when bulbs are not designed properly, they do not disperse heat as well, leading to premature failure.

Off-brand, cheap bulbs exhibit poor solder uniformity, high levels of flux in the solder, uneven chip placement, low-gauge terminal wires, poor assembly, and bulbs held together with inferior adhesives. At best, solder joints will crack and fail on low-quality LEDs after a few weeks of use. In the worst case, these bulbs can damage housings as the extra flux and adhesive evaporates and creates a residue on the lens of the housing.

Diode Dynamics bulbs are produced with modern, computerized equipment, and only the best materials, to ensure complete uniformity, high quality, and long bulb life.

All Diode Dynamics products come with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee and a 3-year limited replacement warranty. For more information, please view the Warranty Information page.

The turn signals on most vehicles will begin to blink fast (hyperblink) when LED bulbs are installed. This is because the new LEDs will use less power than the original bulbs, so your vehicle thinks that the bulb is out and warns you by hyperblinking.

This phenomenon will be the same for every LED bulb on the market- there is no such thing as a "no hyperblink" LED bulb, even though some companies advertise them as such.

Resistor Kit: By adding a resistor to the bulb's circuit, you can mimic the power consumption of the original bulb, and return the vehicle to normal turn signal speed. Diode Dynamics resistors are 50W, 6 ohm, and come with extra-long connection wires for easy install. If you have both front and rear LED turn signals, you should purchase one set for each pair, to create enough resistance for the whole turn signal circuit. The installation itself takes only 10-15 minutes, and involves making two simple connections. Everything you need is included in the kit.
Please see the installation video below.

Flasher Replacement: You may have heard of replacing a "flasher relay" instead of using resistors. Indeed, some vehicles have a replaceable flasher relay, and it is possible to replace it with one designed for LED use, to eliminate hyperblinking. However, this is only true for some vehicles. We do not believe one is available for your vehicle, because your flasher is built-in to the vehicle's computer. You will need to use resistors for your vehicle.

  1. Looks great Review by Justin

The switchback bulbs look a lot cleaner than the stock orange bulbs when not using the turn signal. However, installing the resistor kit on my 2007 Tiburon was a lot more involved than the Diode Dynamics instruction video makes it look. (Posted on 4/19/16)

  2. Bright, Beautiful Review by Johnathan

DD offered amazing quality with these bulbs, as they do with all of their products.

Fast shipping, great price, amazing quality. Would recommend for anyone. (Posted on 3/1/16)

  3. Bright! Review by Tony

Another great product from Diode. Bright and sleek looking. Pretty much everything on my car is LED up, Fog lights. (Posted on 2/2/16)

  4. niiiice Review by Roy

i went with the xp80, really bright and i like them and when they blink they look awesome, the parking lights look bright too, only bad thing is they are pricey but i dont regret the purchase (Posted on 10/31/15)

  5. Switchbacks - 2007 Coupe/Tiburon Review by MDS

I bought the switchback bulbs for the FL2 Tiburon. They look fantastic in the headlights, I also bought the resistor kit as well, which stopped the hyperblink, although the hyper blink isn't too bad on the tib.

These bulbs really look fantastic on the FL2. The Diode dynamics build quality is apparent throughout again. UK buyers will need to also purchase a 1157 base to replace the existing connector. It may need a bit of modifying to fit in, but is worth it. (Posted on 2/18/15)

  6. Better than expected Review by Teddy

I purchased the stage 1 switchback turn signal LED's to install while doing the clear corners mod and I must say, they're a very high quality product. They're pretty bright even at stage 1 and look a lot nicer than the stock amber bulbs. I would recommend these for anyone looking to upgrade their Tiburon's style for a great price! Installing the resistors to prevent hyperblink is very easy as well. Overall, awesome product (Posted on 8/29/13)

  7. Works perfecrtly Review by Jake

One of my turn signal led's was fading so I ordered some replacements. I replaced both and I never realized how bad my old ones actually were. These look great. I wanted stage 2's but didn't feel like spending the extra money. The stage 1's are great. Would highly recommend to fellow tiburon owners. (Posted on 8/20/13)

  8. great lights Review by brianmk

These switchback bulbs made my car turn 50% more heads when combining it with hids, it is a very well made with perfect fit bulb, looks very good and have a awesome light output.
note: you need a resistor or relay for the hyper blink. (Posted on 5/29/13)

  9. Great switchback LEDs Review by Zach

The switchback LEDs really give your headlights a very clean look with cleared lenses. Worth every penny. You WILL need the resistors to stop hyper-blink, at least u do for an 03 Tib GT. The switchback effect is awesome because when you have just your parking lights on, its a very clean clear white light. Then of course when you hit your turn signal, its amber. I would definitely recommend this product! (Posted on 3/26/13)

  10. Very Nice Review by Joseph

*Please note this review is for the Stage 2 Switchback Turn Signals.*

I purchased these Stage 2 LED Switchback front turn signals for my 2004 Tiburon to replace my old pair, purchased from a different company. Several of the LED's on the old pair had gone out while several others flickered.

The build quality of the pair purchased through Diode Dynamics (DD) appears to be much higher compared to the build quality of the older pair. The older pair had solder all over the front surfaces of the LED circuit boards, while those from DD has the solder points neatly hidden on the backs of the LED circuit boards. While you cant really see this when installed, and may not have an effect on functionality, I feel it is superior.

The pair from DD are considerably smaller than the old pair from the other company. I didn't think to measure DD's pair out of the package, but estimating from the clamshell (packaging), I would say DD's pair is no larger than 1 1/8" long and 3/4" diameter (again, estimating from packaging as I didn't physically measure the bulbs before installing, stupid me). The old pair are a giant 2 7/16" long and a full 1" diameter. The pair from DD are much closer to the size of a stock incandescent bulb.

Despite DD's pair being smaller, they have MORE LEDs, comparably, than the old pair from the other company. I say comparably, because the old pair has 92 LEDs per bulb, however, half of those are white while the other half are amber. So effectively the old pair has only 46 LEDs per bulb on at any one time. DD's pair has 60 dual-color LED's per bulb, effectively 14 LEDs more per bulb than the old pair. Not bad for being much smaller!

Now, the side by side comparison of brightness is a little unfair, as the old pair from the other company have several LED's burned out and flickering. The individual LED brightness does appear to be brighter though, especially the amber color, which is more important for safety reasons.

The price point of the pair from DD vs the old pair from the other company were comparable, with DD's pair coming in at about $12 cheaper (without shipping) than what I paid for the old pair several years ago. I can't comment as to how long the pair from DD will last before LED's start failing, however given the overall build quality vs the old pair I expect them to last at least as long as the old pair (5+ years). I didn't HAVE to replace the old pair as they still passed inspections, I was just getting tired of walking by and seeing burned out / flickering LEDs. (Posted on 3/16/13)
